Alien Abduction lamp has arrived!

The Alien Abduction Lamp was a concept years ago, and it is now a reality - Glowing green aliens look out the window of their shiny silver UFO as they levitate a bewildered looking cow of the ground.

This science fiction sculpture artwork is designed by Lasse Kleinit and is something to behold!

I hear the Aliens are vegetarian, so no harm will come to this bovine, and as the initial product run is only 2000 you better get in quick before they are all spirited away!

District 9 is a science fiction movie with something new, unseen before. Or is it?

There are certainly some parallels between the sci-fi movie District 9 and apartheid in South Africa, but the point is not labored. It is much deeper than that, which gives this movie a breath of fresh air and some realism.

An alien spaceship arrives over Johannesburg and in stark contrast to your usual Hollywood formulaic rubbish, nothing drastic happens. In fact the movie is set 20 years after it arrives. The people of earth are not fighting for survival over an alien oppressor. The pentagon don't need to call in their specialist secret team that even the president does not know the existence of. There is no nerdy misfit or previously discredited scientist to save the day with a sci-fi gizmo at the last minute with seven seconds left on some digital countdown. It's not even set in America!

Holy crap - this is something new.

District 9 has a new trailer - gives a Sci-fi film 'gasm

...and by all signs this is going to be the right mix of action, story and a message...

In the new trailer you get to see more of the aliens and back story. Some exciting action and realistic special effects. I am very much liking the way this has a 'real life' documentary feel which draws you in.  

Look out for the little alien scorpions and some cool mecha vs a surface to air rocket. OMG!

Earth is constantly leaking our 'electromagnetic radiation' signals into space - Which Aliens are listening? What are they watching?

The opening scene of the Sci-Fi movie "Contact" written by Carl Sagan, staring Jodie Foster illustrates how the radio signals and noise from our planet leak into space.  The further out you travel, the older the signal is, the further you go back in time.

So if our Alien neighbours have a SETI (Search for Extra-Terrestrial Intelligence) program, and are looking in our direction, watching our TV shows, what are they watching? What is their opinion of us?

Sci-Fi movie set in a fictional world, where aliens have become refugees confined to District 9, a refugee camp in South Africa.

The extraterrestrial race have been forced to live in a slum-like environment on Earth for the years since their arrival. Suddenly they find a kindred spirit in Wikus (Sharlto Copley) a government agent that after being exposed to their biotechnology flees into District 9.

District 9 is based on Alive in Joburg, (which you can watch for free when you click through!)- it's a short film produced by Neill Blomkamp.

Amazing 3D animated short film trailer invites you to Meet Meline.

Two years of intense work on the independent film by Sebastien Laban have produced something that would make DreamWorks and Pixar stand up and take notice. Complementing the stunning artwork and visuals, are the official music of Meet Meline composed by Guillaume Roussel.

I was captivated by the teaser/trailer of the Sci-Fi Fantasy 6 minute short film, where a little girl searches for a mysterious little creature. You can really feel the warmth and dedication they have invested in making this, as it transforms into spine tingling magic.

January 7, 2009 - UFO Hits Wind Turbine, Reports U.K. Sun.

As you can see in the photo the wind turbine has one blade missing and a second blade crumpled after reported collision of unidentified light with the turbine in a wind farm near Louth, Lincolnshire, England.  The other turbines were unaffected by whatever the force was that mangled the damaged turbine. 

[There was a] massive ball of light with tentacles going right down to the ground over the wind farm. It was huge. With the tentacles, it looked just like an octopus.

NEWS FLASH:  Reports are in of in incident in low earth orbit between Santa and a UFO piloted by an Alien from the Klatau Nebulae

The UFO and Santa's sleigh made contact as Santa was heading back to the North Pole after a long night of making deliveries. It is unknown if alcohol or fatigue played a part in causing the collision. Officials are at the scene investigating.

NEWS FLASH UPDATE:  Alien released without charge after translator arrives and clears up misunderstanding

It seems that one of the eleves forgot to change the globe in Santa's stop light on the sleigh which led to the incident. The reindeer named Prancer received a laceration to his left front leg, which is on the mend to a full recovery. The rest were unharmed although a little startled.  When the Alien's UFO was deemed space-worthy he returned home and found a few nice gifts in his abode for him and his family left by Santa.

Where Sci-fi Art meets reality, two and a half kilometres underwater, a remote control submersible's camera has captured an eerie surprise:

An alien-like, long-armed, & - strangest of all - "elbowed" Magnapinna squid.

I have heard comments from non Sci-Fi aficionados that they dislike science fiction because "...the aliens look ridiculous, as if something would ever look like that!"

I have done a fair bit of SCUBA diving and let me tell you, on our very own planet, there is some freaky stuff down there.

'Sky Tower'

  Drawn while on holiday in New Zealand. The alien floating rock city features the Sky Tower, the tallest building in the southern hemisphere. Also inspired by the 'Rock-n-Ropes' assault corse I completed 30 meters above the ground. Stand on a narrow wooden pole and then jump off to catch a trapeze nearly out of reach - that will inspire anyone!

Why Science Fiction Art and Sculpture?

You know I never thought of Sci-Fi as some weird thing for geeks.  I have heard people say that they “Hate Sci-Fi because it’s all make believe rubbish”. Interesting thought... and a very limiting belief. I see Science Fiction as Science Possibility. I hope that shows through in my Art, Drawings and Sculpture.  Especially the stories behind the works. Every artwork that I create, has been carefully thought out with the frame-work of  "If this was real, what would it be like, how would it function, and what would it have to have..." Science Fiction Art has always fascinated me. To me it really shows the future...  Keep in mind the fact that around 200 years ago we were all still dicking around in sailing ships.  Now we have been to the moon, are planning manned trips to Mars...
