Womb with a View: SciFi Artificial Womb Sculpture

A Womb with a View

SciFi Sculpture of an alien artificial womb with human clone baby inside.

In 2871 a survey ship, the CASPIN IV encountered a faint signal beacon while charting systems at the edge of the explored Galaxy.
Upon closer investigation, they found a derelict craft of unknown origin in a decaying orbit around the moon of a gas giant.

The derelict craft appeared to have been there for some time. The initial damage was suspected to be from an implosion in the drive core. The resulting radiation leak would have lead to the craft's abandonment.

Further scans revealed that the radiation had died down to a safe background level, but there was more...

Barely registering, was a single life sign.

What you see before you, is what they found...

Looking quite human in appearance, and alive in some sort of artificial womb, is a female baby. DNA tests were run to confirm its origin.

The tests revealed two startling facts.
  1. The baby was indeed human, but also had some extra 25,000 strands of DNA, which have still not been identified.

  2. The human part of the DNA matches closely to an Eliza Davies, and her husband Jason, who have been listed as passengers 'Missing Feared Dead' since the maiden voyage of the CERBERUS in 2132. The CERBERUS entered hyperspace all systems normal, but never remerged at its destination. There is a 99.9% chance that the baby is indeed their offspring.

The questions remain unanswered:

Who were the owners of the strange alien derelict?

How did the baby get to be there? Eliza was not registered as being pregnant or ever giving birth by the medical logs of the CERBERUS before it departed.

What did happen to the CERBERUS on its maiden voyage?
