Sci-Fi Genetic Art: Where did everyone go?

I discovered an alien craft derelict, adrift in space.
Initial scans revealed no signs of complex life structures, essentially just an overall 'glow' of the basic building blocks of life. It would have been quite a normal reading for a planet that was just waiting for life to begin, like the Earth millions of years ago... Waiting for a lightning strike to kick start a wondrous chain reaction in a pool of liquid.

However, it was a very strange reading for a craft of any description.

Inside the craft there were several vast chambers lined from floor to ceiling by thousands upon thousands of apparatus. Barren, forgotten.
Each apparatus formed a small cubicle, a tangle of pipes, dripping liquid and dull metal. They were all identical, replicated over and over forming a pattern like those 'Magic 3D' art pictures that were so popular toward the end of the 1990's.
I stared in wonder, curious to see if some strange alien vista would form in front of my eyes in 3D.

The spell was broken by the scanner as it hummed and hiccupped. It revealed that not all the cubicles were identical after all. One was unique in a very special way.

As I turned around and slowly looked up, I saw it - A 'Clone Alone'

Art work constructed from found objects, plastic pipe, wood, welding rod and wire mesh and features various lighting effects. Originally envisaged art to be mounted into a wall, I constructed it so that it also looks good as art free-hanging on a wall. Requires 240v AC for lighting effects.

Thanks for sharing Chuck,
would love to see some photos of your work, and great idea for distracting people so you can jump out and scare them! hahaha
Warmly, Marty

Nice piece of work. Strangely, it is disturbingly similar to part of a project I did for our haunted house attraction a few years ago in Fort Worth, Texas.

Babies, Barbie dolls, and other random objects were painted blue and green with white for the eyes. I used a paint that glows under black light. Some of the objects are suspended with fishing line, so it looks like those objects are floating in the set.

Many weeks of hard work in that project. I came up with the idea as a "WTF!?" set to throw guests off as a distraction. The set helped our actors scare the guests because they were focused on the strangeness in the set. I want to say it was around 2006-2007 when I made that set. I'd have to track down the construction pictures of the build and installation of the set to be certain.

It's amusing how people in different locations can come up with similarities of a sort with their respective art work and projects. I ran across pictures of your "Alien Clone" work on a different website and navigated here. Nice piece!

Best Regards,
