Science Brings Us One Step Closer to Sci-fi Shape Shifting Craziness... And Terminators

Sure you are familiar with the artistic science fiction depictions of shape shifting robots, and machines that manufacture what ever you desire at the push of a button.

Programmable matter will allow you to mould and change an object on demand.

I would love to get my hands on this technology - literally. It would be amazing fun from an artist and sculptors point of view. It takes 3D printing technology to a whole new level.

This CNN report shows a step in the right direction by Intel. Either that or Intel wanted to show off their new video rendering hardware.

Now I am not saying that this will all end in the demise of mankind as depicted in many sci-fi stories.

For now it will just be a high tech version of play-doh.
It will be years before there are liquid metal terminators arrive and replace us one by one. Honest.

Before then there will be many other uses - imagine having a remote controlled facsimile of yourself made out of this stuff exploring Mars?

Wait, who am I kidding...
     It will be the military and the porn industry that stands to make the most use of this technology.
