The Sci-Fi and Real Science of Watchmen (the Movie)

Written by Martin Dolan

Sci-Fi epic Watchmen, based on Hugo award winning art filled graphic novel of the same name is out next week.

Now find out about the science and physics of Dr. Manhattan.  Meet James Kakalios professor in the School of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Minnesota who was a physics consultant on Sci-Fi flick Watchmen.

I always geek out on science fiction to science fact stories.

James Kakalios also has a great book called "The Physics of Super Heroes"

Can’t wait for this science fiction work of art, in fact I have tickets to the pre-screening premiere next week.

I hope it turns out to be one of those classic Sci-Fi movies - The Artwork in the graphic novel compared with the movie clip scenes I have seen so far are top notch.

Still... good camera work, slow motion scenes and special effects do NOT automatically equate to a good movie.

Max Payne was a great example of amazing looking movie trailer, yet the movie totally blew.

And Gattaca is a top example of how you can have an amazing Sci-Fi movie with very little special effects.

Still I digress...

...let's hope Watchmen doesn’t suck

UPDATE!

It didn't suck.. you just have to see this movie.  Watch the Watchmen opening credits here

I am enough of an artist to draw freely upon my imagination. Imagination is more important than knowledge. Knowledge is limited. Imagination encircles the world.

Mozzie

A mozzie born out of technology gone feral.
This is another not so little critter born from a science experiment gone wrong on Enna Prime. A batch of artificial intelligence chips prematurely activated in a lab, and fused with a nano technology experiment. The chips and nano’s formed the first thing they saw...
