Opening Credits for Watchmen Movie - Full Sequence in Visual Glory

Written by Martin Dolan

watchmen smiley badge with blood image

If you are a fan of the Watchmen movie or not, there is no denying that the artistic achievement in the opening credits sequence for Watchmen is amazing.

uY+co who produced the sequence with Zack Snyder have now released the trailer.

Every time I watch this I notice something new, and it does a great job of laying out some of the back story and history to set the scene.

Watch and enjoy! (while the link still works - see below for more on that)
Adobe Flash Player not installed or older than 9.0.115!
Get Adobe Flash Player here

Watchmen Movie credits that have been removed due a stupid move on the behalf of the movie studio

Note- it does take a while to load, but at least its still there!
Ok, searching for another copy... if you find one let me know!
08/04/2009 ...and its back again....  haha

UPDATE: It seems that even though uY+co originally posted this video on their blog, for copyright reasons they have taken it down. I am not sure if this is something to do with the movie studio or what. My guess is that some studio exec has got their knickers in a twist because the clip is 5 min long. They are probably scared that someone will get all the clips that are out there from the trailers and the like and artistically stitch them together to recreate the whole movie.

Being a marketing specialist (one of my other businesses) I know the value of giving something away for free.
The more free stuff you give away, the more people will buy.

If you look around the net at all the comments when this opening credits sequence has been shown, people have said that it has convinced them to see the movie.
Hell, after watching this a few times, I want to go see the movie AGAIN. Something I rarely do.

It just proves yet again, that Hollywood has lost touch with the times, and are happy to sabotage a sci-fi movies success at every stage they can.

Perhaps they should take a look at music artists like Radiohead and Nine Inch Nails who put their whole latest album online for free, and then still make it one of their best selling albums.

Anyway... to respect copyright and uY+co, (and Noah K at uY+co) I am not hosting this on my site.
Out of respect to the incredible Watchmen movie, I am just pointing to another place that does host it. Just like Google and all the other search engines do.

Also check out the science behind the Watchmen sci-fi movie.

I saw WATCHMEN together with my wife. And I will definitely buy the director's cut on DVD. But what to do until the release? I'm so glad to get the opportunity to watch again and again the opening. Thanks a lot for posting.

In case you didn't read the graphic novel so far. Please, do it. Then you can imagine what Zack Snyder has done. And it doesn't matter that he changed the end.

This is one of the best movies based on a book/graphic novel.

Thanks for your comments, and yes I got the hardback version of the graphic novel of the Watchmen a few weeks ago, and looking forward to spending a weekend reading that!
I will be looking forward to a ‘directors cut’ of Watchmen - on my list for sure! Mr. Green

I saw the movie a month ago and loved it. Thanks for posting the opening credits. Great use of music throughout the entire movie. I probably won't go to the theatre to see it again. But I'm definitely buying the DVD.

Watchmen is one of the rare movies that I want to see and my wife doesn't. I had hoped to show her enough to persuade her to go see it with me. But thanks to Warner Brothers (who even after numerous Harry Potter fiascos doesn't get that good publicity sells product) we'll go see Duplicity instead.

I was using the opening sequence to help write a paper on the Watchmen's quickly established alternate history. I was looking forward to showing my professor and classmates, but thanks to whatever asshole exec I can't do that. Thank you asshole exec. I will not buy your movie.

The sole thought in my head while watching that was, "Man, I have to see this movie."
It's a shame that whoever is forcing the clip to be removed can't see how
amazing it is that there's people that are willing do their advertising for them.

Definitely the best part of the movie. Had only the rest of the movie sustained the originality and freshness of the opening credits! I'd like to see a prequel - there's plenty of material that could be done for the Nite Owl II/Rorschach partnership alluded to?

you can always watch free movies online, even this one. No one would waste their time trying to piece together an entire movie from trailer clips.

No Problem. It's killing be bandwidth wise, but if it encourages a few more people to go see and enjoy this movie, it's worth it! Very Happy
Update: It's not on my site for copyright reasons - but see above for more info!
